Takeaway Cup
Oh dear, it's a take away cup Somebody forgot to plan ahead It's a no brainer To bring your own container Again and again to again instead The excuses leave me skeptical When they choose refuse to use their own receptical Sure, it's good to be recyclable And if possible compostable But unless it's in a hospital Single use is gonna cost us all Worse still They just go to landfill And sadder yet they often end up on the street To wash into the ocean It's not a tricky notion We all need to help to keep the planet neat (Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up!) [Instrumental] The excuses leave me skeptical When the staff fail to let me Use my own receptacle It's not difficult to sanitize Or to calculate the serving size But if we can't find a compromise Single use'll hasten our demise So please Try to bring your own cup Just keep it in your bag It'll give you cred The feeling's always finer In metal, glass or china If you forget I'll lend you one of mine instead As well, bring a doggie-bag box Then nothing's ever going to have to go waste You'll do the earth a favour And savour ever flavour The fast food taste but without the haste It won't go to waste, it'll go to my waist! It won't go to landfill, it'll go to manfill! Nothing's going to have to go waste x4 [Instrumental] Oh dear, it's a take away cup Somebody forgot to plan ahead © Mal Webb 2026 This song is in 11, as 2-2-2-2-3, which I mash against a classic 4/4 house groove (with accents 3-3-3-3-4) as an MPPR , as well as, at other times, letting is phase shift against a slower 4/4 groove. |
